Site Plan
Environmental sensitivity
With less than 200 Preserves on 1,300 acres, the Sanctuary is being
created with as little disruption to the land as possible. Stringent
tree
removal
restrictions are in place. As a result, all homes are at least 200
feet from the shoreline -- four times the county requirement of a 50-foot
setback.
For these
efforts, the Sanctuary has gained the respect of those
involved with safeguarding the environment.
“Crescent has sculpted the development around the land and not
the other way around. A lot of developers think that if they just save
one tree, they’re doing us all a favor. But, they come in and change
the light conditions, move dirt so that water runoff is affected and
five years down the road, the tree they thought they had saved is dying.
That’s not going to be the case here.” - Patrick George,
arborist and consultant to the Sanctuary
