Praise for Our Greg Norman Golf Course

  • “People who have considered taking up golf – but haven’t – may be inspired by The Point Lake & Golf Club’s new incentives. For 2003, anyone buying a golf course homesite gets a full set of golf clubs for both heads of household.” – Lake Norman Times
  • “The Point is a great test of golf but extremely playable, even though it has a high slope rating of 142 from the championship tees. The features that give it the high slope rating come from the approach to the greens, because the driving areas are rather generous. Once you’re in the fairway, the challenge begins. Lake Norman comes into play on the approach shot to nine holes and is in play on a total of 13 holes. Each green is unique in its own way and contoured with gentle, subtle breaks. And every green except No. 1 is closely guarded by Augusta-style bunkers, Lake Norman or both.” – Luxury Living
  • The Point was named the Top Area Private Golf Course by The Business Journal.
  • Dubbed “Pleasure Point” by The Charlotte Observer, its critique of The Point’s golf course says: “The superstar designer’s effort shows through in this course on the lake. Greg Norman didn’t just sign a contract, pose for pictures and put his famous shark logo on The Point. He worked on getting what he wanted. Norman made The Point as much fun to look at as to play. He mixed a variety of grasses, using different textures in the fairways and around the greens. The par-4 finishing hole forces players to cross the lake twice as they play to a green located below the Nantucket-styled village at the middle of the development. It’s an impressive finish to an impressive place.”
  • “(Greg) Norman has two traits that have proven essential to the design of The Point – the imagination to mold the magnificent piece of land and equally magnificent lake into a challenging and eminently playable test of golf, and the restraint necessary to preserve the integrity and natural design features of the land and lake themselves. What he has created at The Point is a course with a natural rhythm from start to finish and an intriguing variety of holes drawn from his experience as an international player.” – Triad Golf Today
