Fort Mill Schools Get Top Marks
The Fort Mill-York 4 School District has earned an “Excellent” grade on its state report card four years running. An independent survey placed all district schools in the top 10 percent in the nation. And, 126 district teachers have attended graduate-level or advanced-training classes.

  • For the 2007-08 school year, Springfield Elementary received a “Good” absolute rating, indicating the students exceeded the standards for progress toward the 2010 Performance Goal set by the state of South Carolina.
  • The school met or exceeded all 18 of the 19 objectives for its adequate yearly progress goals for 2006-07.
  • Extracurricular activities offered by the school include Girls on the Run, Environmental Club, Knitting Club and Archery Club, which won the state title for 2007-08. 
  • Springfield Elementary has a TV production lab, with capabilities to broadcast a daily morning news program school-wide, and a computer lab with 26 stations. Classroom computers also enhance instruction. The school also has a mobile laptop lab with 30 computers and a Yamaha music lab.

  • Springfield Middle opened for the 2006-07 school year, next door to Springfield Elementary.
  • The parents and staff have quickly organized the school's PTA and Booster Club organizations to support the school's student body.
  • Art, chorus, band, computers, physical education, family and consumer science, dance/theater arts and foreign languages are among the available curriculum. Students can participate in junior beta club, student council, the academic team and other organizations that develop.
  • The mock trial team won the middle school state championship for 2007-08.
  • Students can participate in broadcasting the school-wide daily morning news program.
  • Football, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer, track, baseball, softball, volleyball, wrestling, dance and cheerleading are athletics offered at the school.

  • Nation Ford High opened for the 2007-08 school year, around the corner from Springfield.
  • Football, boys and girls basketball, boys soccer, tennis, track, cross-country, baseball, softball, volleyball, wrestling, dance and cheerleading are all athletics offered at the school.
  • Students are given the opportunity to take a shuttle to Fort Mill High for career tech classes not offered at Nation Ford High, while Fort Mill High students also have the opportunity to take a shuttle to Nation Ford High for career tech classes not offered by their school.
  • Art, chorus, band, dance, foreign language, business, career programs, sports management, computers and drama are among the available curriculum.
  • Students can participate in several organizations, including Environmental Club, Model UN Debate Club, mock trial, student government, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), academic team, art and photo club, Beta club, Key Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
  • Parents have formed the Nation Ford High Booster Club and School Improvement Council to support the school's brand-new student body.
