Michael Blackwell

Regional Development Manager, Mid-Atlantic

Michael Blackwell joined Crescent Resources in 2011 as regional development manager of the Mid-Atlantic. In this role, he leads the identification and development of new multifamily and mixed-use projects in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia.

Prior to joining Crescent, Blackwell was a vice president at Willis North America. There, he worked with the firm’s national real estate practice, helping multifamily operators and developers drive performance through improved management of risk and insurance expense. In his past position with national apartment developer JPI, Blackwell was responsible for the development of high-density, mixed-use projects in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C.

Active in his profession, Blackwell is a member of the Urban Land Institute, National Multi Housing Council and the DC Real Estate Group. He actively supports the Boy Scouts of America and is an Eagle Scout, as well as a member of Old Presbyterian Meeting House in Old Town Alexandria.

Blackwell received a bachelor’s degree in English from Hampden-Sydney College in Hampden-Sydney, Va., where he now serves on the Board of Trustees. He is currently completing a master’s degree in real estate development at Georgetown University.

Crescent Resources is a real estate development company with interests throughout the southeastern United States. Established in 1969, the Charlotte-based company develops single-family, multifamily and resort residential communities. Crescent also owns and manages business and industrial parks and shopping centers.
