James (Jim) M. Short Jr.

President, Land Management Division

Jim Short was named president of the land management division in 2007.
In this capacity, he is responsible for the management of Crescent’s
undeveloped property holdings and the orderly sale of assets not slated for
future development.

Short began his career with Crescent in 1982, serving in a variety of positions in forestry management. In 1990, he was promoted to director of real estate taxes, managing all property taxes for the company. In 1992, he was named vice president of surplus land sales with responsibility for the sale of properties not included in Crescent’s long-range plan. Short was named senior vice president of land management in 1998. In this role, he was responsible for disposition of surplus properties, working with conservation groups and maximizing core
asset holdings.

Short graduated from Clemson University with a degree in forest management and engineering, and then received a master’s of business administration from Winthrop University. A registered forester, Short holds a real estate broker’s license in each state where Crescent operates.

Short is active in the Society of American Foresters, the South Carolina Forest Association and the Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service.

Crescent Resources is a real estate development company with interests throughout the southeastern United States. Established in 1969, the Charlotte-based company develops single-family, multifamily and resort residential communities. Crescent also owns and manages business and industrial parks and shopping centers.
